Long time ago pots weren’t as durable as of today. We can still remember that pots before easily cracks when highly heated. Unlike today that the highest heat of you your gas range, your pots still work fine. It is because of the development of pots today. Pots are already made out of different metals. They can be made out of copper, bronze, iron, and stainless steel and aluminum.

Stock pots are very important during special occasions like holiday seasons, birthdays and valentine days. They are helpful in cooking food for the family and loved ones. They are round with flat bottom and with handles on left and right side. Metals help conduct heat well to easily cook food. The most important thing is that these foods should not taste like these metals or taste like pans.

Today, Aluminum stock pots are most widely used in kitchen among other stockpots. It is affordable and the can conduct heat easily compared to others stock pots made of metals. That is why in order to buy new Aluminum stock pots best for your kitchen you must consider some of these guide. It is a simple guide that will help you get the aluminum stock pots you just need.

In buying aluminum stock pots you must consider:

1. An ease of use. This is a requirement that involves comfort in using that pot. Some pots are bigger enough from others. Some are wider from others. In this case size does matter. If you need a bigger pot for the big celebration then why not consider buying the big one. Otherwise, small one is already enough for your needs.
Remember that cooking in a broader pot helps you stir your food well. Secondly, you can monitor your food. On the other hand, the taller pots will make you use additional equipment in monitoring your food. You will have to exert effort too in reaching down.

2. Safety first. In life, we always tell everyone that you should consider safety first. Likewise in cooking and in choosing pots, we should also consider safety first. The handle should be secure in order to avoid burns. As we all know that it is heavy when full so a secure handle helps a lot in secured cooking.

3. High quality bottom pots. Of course, if you use your pots regularly thick and heavy bottom pots are advantage. This thick bottom will ensure to control the heat and browning. Otherwise, it will produce bottom leak in the bottom. It will surely serve for a long period of time if its bottom is durable.

Well, these are top guide in buying Aluminum stock pots. Only that in your kitchen a cookware set has four apparatus: saucepan, frying pan, sauté pan and stock pot. The saucepan helps you heat and reheat liquids and stew leftovers. The frying pan is for cooking onions and frying fish. The sauté pan is for cooking meats on the stove and making thick dishes. Stock pots are good heavy loads of food like boiled crawfish.

What keeps the leaves perky?

It’s down to the ‘modified air packaging’ that replaces normal air with 95 per cent nitrogen to control browning. Packaged lettuce left in standard air would go off quicker.

What’s the smell when you open the bag?

It’s chlorine. Chlorinated water is used to kill bugs, but manufacturers say that residues on the leaves are lower than in drinking water.

Are they as nutritious as non-bagged?

Italian scientists found that people eating three-day-old bagged lettuce didn’t show rises in blood levels of disease-protective antioxidants, as they did when they ate fresh leaves. If you buy lettuce fresh and eat it straight away, it’s more nutritious, but if you leave it hanging around or soaking in water, it’s likely to be no better than bagged. If the convenience of bagged salad makes you eat more, though, then it’s a good thing.

How long can you keep them after opening?

No more than 24 hours unless you transfer to an airtight container when you might manage a couple of days. But always take note of the use-by date and don’t eat beyond it. A red colour on cut surfaces indicates bacterial growth so avoid lettuce that looks like this.

Can you really rely on them being safe to eat without washing?

Probably, but not absolutely. Consumption of bagged salad leaves has been linked to salmonella in England and Wales and to E coli in the USA. A cautious approach would be to wash bagged salad if you’re pregnant, or giving it to very young or very old people. Oddly, organic salads are theoretically more risky to eat without first washing because they don’t have the chlorine rinse.

What if they go off before the Use-by date?

Store salads between 1-4 C, any higher and they’ll go limp, lower and leaves become translucent and shiny. If you’re sure the product’s at fault, take it back.

Every year, friends and family emerge from hibernation to say farewell to winter and welcome spring with open arms. Whether you’re celebrating Easter, Earth Day or any other cheery spring occasion, this darling Bunny Cake is a great way to enjoy the happiness and rebirth that comes along with the season.

Children will love helping with this simple Bunny Cake recipe because they can customize it to make it their own. For example, surround your bunny cake with some grass made out of shredded coconut that has been colored with green food color, or really make the cake stand out by making it a polka-dotted or striped bunny. The Easy Bunny Cake recipe, which makes a pair of bunny cakes, is also a great centerpiece until it is time to indulge and enjoy.

Easy Bunny Cake

Prep Time: 30 min
Total Time: 2 hours 10 min
Makes: 2 bunny cakes, 16 servings

Ingredients:

1 box Betty Crocker SuperMoist yellow cake mix
Water, vegetable oil and eggs called for on cake mix box
2 containers (1 pound each) Betty Crocker Rich & Creamy vanilla frosting
Neon purple and/or pink food color
Construction paper (inedible)
2 small marshmallows, cut in half, flattened
2 small jelly beans, cut in half
2 5-inch strips rainbow-colored sour candy, separated into strips
2 large jelly beans or candy-coated chocolate-covered peanut candies
2 rectangular-shaped white chewing gum pieces, cut in half
2 large marshmallows

Directions:

1. Heat oven to 350°F (325°F for dark or nonstick pans). Make, bake and cool cake as directed on box for 2 (8- or 9-inch) round cake pans, using water, oil and eggs.

2. In medium bowl, tint 1 container frosting with neon purple food color. Using 1 cake round, cut in half to form 2 semicircles. Arrange halves on serving plate with cut side down and flat sides together with 1/4 cup frosting to form body.

3. Frost cake with frosting. Cut teardrop-shaped ears from construction paper; insert into cake. Using toothpicks to attach, use 2 small marshmallow halves and 2 small jelly bean halves for eyes. Use large jelly bean for nose and sour candy strips for whiskers. Place gum halves just below nose for teeth. Use large marshmallow for tail.

4. Repeat with remaining cake to make second bunny, using pink neon food color. Frost and decorate as above.

Bunny Games

If you have more than a few guests, bake multiple bunny cakes, split up into teams, offer several different types of candies and decorations and challenge each team to come up a creative bunny cake.

After the cakes are judged and the dessert is enjoyed, send the kids outside for bunny hop races. In this relay race, the participants, who are split into two teams, will take turns hopping through the pre-determined course and pass to the next person by transferring bunny ears or a carrot stick.

Cooking games can be fun and educational all at the same time. Cooking games can take you into the kitchen in a virtual way. This can be a great way to introduce your children to cooking prior to taking them into the kitchen to participate in the real thing. We all know that children enjoy doing things that are fun. Cooking games are a way to get a little education out of all that fun.

There are a lot of different cooking games they can play too. Children can learn how to make their own pizza pie. They can learn how to bake a cake. They can learn how to grill meats. There are no limits to the items that can make in cooking games on the computer.

What a way to get boys and girls excited about doing the real thing inside of a kitchen! And both boys and girls can benefit from learning how to cook in real life. So it is a good idea to use this as a teaching tool for both when thinking of utilising cooking games as an educational tool.

Imagine how much easier it will be for a parent to bring a child into the kitchen to help make a birthday cake for a sibling, for example. They will see this as nothing more than an extension of the cooking games they are used to playing online. And it will help the experience seem less like a chore and more like and exciting activity. It also leads to more bonding time between parents and children, which is always a good thing.

So the next time you see your child playing cooking games, encourage them to continue. And when the opportunity arises, call them into the kitchen and provide some live experience for them to test the skills they have learned while playing those cooking games.

“Time is more valuable than money… You can get more time
But you cannot get more time!”
- Jim Rohn -
Stress and diet
Step 1: Understanding the relationship between stress and diet
Some stress might be good; and is called ambition, drive and performance. But, when stress becomes uncontrolled, our bodies suffer the consequences in more way than one.

The body’s natural response to cope with stress is elevated adrenaline levels and thus gearing the body for quick-action, fast-thinking and lots of available energy for running away from or fighting the threat. Nowadays, we suffer more from situational stress (deadlines, financial fears, and emotional problems) than from physical stress. Yet, we feel the physical effects of adrenaline: a faster heart beat, higher blood pressure, increased utilisation of energy and blood-sugar fluctuations, aggression and irritability, sleep disturbances, compromised immunity, and appetite changes.

It is not merely poor willpower driving us towards eating badly when we are stressed; it has a physiological basis. If we increase our blood-sugar levels with sweet things and carbohydrate-rich foods, we manipulate the chemicals in our brains so that we produce more serotonin (the ‘calm’ chemical).

Soon the problem becomes two-fold: firstly, the food we choose to increase serotonin is usually rich in hidden fats as well, so there is an increase in production of serotonin, and of fats entering the blood. Secondly, due to the stress response, our bodies have produced more cortisol than usual. This, apart from causing stomach disturbances and increased proneness to infection, causes a disturbed insulin activity. The fats which we unknowingly ingest in these comfort-eating episodes are stored all the more easily because of the presence of cortisol.

The slowing metabolism of people over 40 makes them more vulnerable to stress, which releases hormones that stimulate both appetite and the storage of fat.

Step 2: Adopting healthy habits
● Exercise regularly – at least 20-30 mins every day. Not only will you reduce
stress, you’ll also help your heart & lungs and improve your health.
● Avoid overuse of alcohol and food.
● Learn to prioritise and set realistic, attainable goals.
● Don’t skip meals. Start your day with a healthy Herbalife Nutritional Shake.
● Don’t eat to beat stress. Rather follow a balanced diet.
● Take a little time off to make a list of the foods you require (Herbalife Shake,
Low-fat yoghurt, low-fat milk, lean meat & chicken, etc).
● Keep a store of healthy snacks handy (See list of snacks attached)

Step 3: Understanding the basic principles of a stress-combating diet
* Prevent low blood sugar – don’t skip meals. Eat regular, healthy, small meals.
*
* Keep a store of healthy snacks handy such as carrot and celery sticks, unbuttered popcorn, chewing gum, rice cakes spread with Marmite and the odd hard sweet to satisfy your sweet cravings.
*
* Sip away your stress: chamomile, lemon balm, lavender, valerian herbal teas, Herbalife Thermojetics Beverage, to soothe frazzled nerves.
*
* Eat calming foods: tryptophane, an amino acid, boosts the formation of serotonin, the “feel good”, calming brain chemical. Unrefined carbohydrates, nuts and bananas are rich in tryptophane (not too many bananas though).
*
* Energy boosting foods: small amounts of protein (cheese, eggs, chicken, and meat) contain the amino acid tryptamine that can give you a boost when stress tires you out. Take small ready prepared portions to work.
*
* Avoid refined starches like white bread, pasta, rice and potatoes. You don’t need them and they do nothing for you.
*
* High-fibre, whole-grain alternatives break the cycle that stimulates hunger. Fruits, vegetables, low-fat yoghurt and cottage cheese work, too.
*
* Eat low-fat foods so that you don’t run the risk of fat gain.

Have you ever heard the saying “the closer you are to the fish the fresher it will be? But since we all don’t live in fishing villages we have to stick with what we find at the store. You can still get relatively fresh fish these days and you can do a couple of things to ensure that you are buying the freshest possible fish you can find.

The first thing you need to do is find out from the place you purchase fish when they get stock and where it comes from. You can also ask them how long ago it was caught or how long it has been frozen for. Ensure you examine the fish to ensure that there are no flaws. The sellers have guidelines for storing their fish which they have to follow so you shouldn’t have a problem.

In your examination you should check for discolorations and odor. The fish should have a mild fishy smell but should not have a foul odor. When you are purchasing flounder fillet you will find that it will have no smell whatsoever. The eyes of the fish must be clear and the inside of gills should be red color and not pink, brown or gray.

If you are purchasing whole fish, it is important to look at the eyes and the gills. You also want to ensure that the tail of the fish is stiff. If you are purchasing fillets they should be neatly trimmed and ragged or packed. For flounder it should have a translucent with no discoloration.

When purchasing frozen fish there should be no sign of thawing nor should there be any sign of freezer burn. Ensure that the packaging for the entire fish is intact and not damaged.

When you make your purchase for your fish you want to take it home quickly so that you preserve it as best as possible. Once you do this you must take some more steps when you get home to maintain its freshness. Whenever time allows you should cook and eat the fish the same day that you made your purchase. If this isn’t possible you can wrap it in wax paper or place it in a covered dish in your refrigerator.

If you live close to the source of purchase you can take some ice blocks along with a cooler to keep your fish at a certain temperature then place it in your freezer at home. It should be able to stay in your freezer for 6 months once the temperature is maintained. Your other option is to coat the fish with marinade and place it in the freezer. But to enjoy the best tasting fish you must cook and eat it as soon as possible.

Making your own candy is a very creative way to express yourself and share homemade gifts with others, particularly during the holidays. Making rock candy is a great way to get started with candy making, as it teaches a lot of the basic skills and techniques that you will use for other types of candy. Beyond just making candy, being able to eat the end result is a big plus, and you will have fun just watching the sugar crystals form and grow.

Let’s Get Started!
Making candy is just the start, and decorating your candies and creating unique packaging boxes for storing and presenting them to your friends and family are the finishing touches. The best way to start in the wide world of candy making is to find some recipes and start with the most basic. After making a number of candy recipes, you will be pleasantly surprised at how your skill level increases after making only a few batches of candy at home. You shouldn’t have any restrictions in your creativity with these recipes, either!
Look for a familiar recipe, such as a basic hard candy, that can be customized. If you start with a hard candy, which is basically just sugar with additives such as flavoring and colors, you can make them unique with your own original touches. A simple hard candy for home could be lollipops, clear mints, fruit drops, or even candy canes.

Soft Candy
Soft candies are another favorite that can easily be made at home. They do, however, call for slightly more sophisticated skills. With help and a little luck, you can make nice marshmallows and jellies of your own the first time. Many people don’t realize marshmallows are technically considered candy but they are, in fact, part of the category known as soft candies. Marshmallows consist of a combination of egg whites with a lot of air whipped into them, sugar, corn syrup, and gelatin.

All soft candy is mostly sugar, and it is worth noting that none of these recipes contain more than 5% other ingredients. Cotton candy is another fun and excellent example of a soft candy, which includes nearly pure melted sugar spun with various colors added.

More Advanced Candy Making
Another type of candy contains a lot more ingredients and requires more complex candy making skills. This category includes chocolates, such as the fancy ones you see in holiday boxes, fudges, caramels, pastes, and chocolate-covered fruits or nuts. Some people misunderstand what is meant by candy pastes, but this type of candy is just like the familiar Marzipan, which is a paste containing egg whites, sugar, and mashed almonds.

Fudge is an excellent intermediary candy to make at home, and what you can do with fudge to make it more fun, better tasting, and extra attractive is amazing! Just get the proper amounts of vanilla, milk, sugar, butter, corn syrup, and chocolate or peanut butter (or both!) together and heat it up! Be sure to cool fudge fully to acquire the proper texture. You might have to practice a bit to perfect it, but this is surely a case where practice is tasty fun. You’ll love the results!

Starting Out Right
With so many levels of candy making, make sure you start with the basic skills before you take on the more advanced techniques. Never fear, there is a candy you can make regardless of your initial level of skill or experience, and you can work up from there. At the very basic level, rock candy is a fantastic recipe to start with, as it’s easy and teaches the basic skills of more complicated candy making, like boiling sugar syrups and keeping temperatures consistent. Once you really get the hang of it, you can attempt nut brittles, fudges, and other candies without problems.

Here is an expert’s secret to accelerate your progress: The weather is a factor in candy making and can change how your sweets turn out! Candy making is best done on a cool, dry day to keep your sugar, which will absorb moisture from the air, in its best state. Days that are too humid will require you to increase the amount of time the recipe is cooked, or risk spoiling your final product.

Another important tip is always bring sugar to a full boil, not just a simmer, to guarantee your candy will harden correctly. These little details will separate your candy making successes from your failures. Learn a lot about candy making by visiting http://www.CandyMakingInfo.com for the free 10-part mini-course full of tips, instructions, and recipes. Candy making can be a lot of fun, and mastering these small challenges is part of it. And, there is certainly no time like the present to get started!

Aroma Cool Touch rice cookers are some of the easiest to use appliances available for your kitchen. Just being a product of the Aroma company is enough to tell most people they are purchasing a quality product, since the company has been known for years as a manufacturer of slow cookers, inside grills, and other kitchen appliances. While there are several Aroma rice cookers with smaller 3 and 4 cup capacities, there are many larger sizes, including the Aroma 8 cup rice cooker and Aroma 10 cup rice cooker. There are even commercial rice cookers available that can prepare 15 cups or more at once.

For my family, the Aroma ARC-988 was perfect. Its Digital LED display was easy to read, the one-touch cook feature made it simple to start, and all of the other features which are standard on most Aroma rice makers rounded out the machine. I only wish I could teach it wash and put itself away afterwards!

One standard feature of all Aroma rice cookers is the non-stick rice paddle. But the special measuring cup was extremely handy; because it made getting the portions correct a breeze. And the features aren’t just extra pieces in the box, either. The patented Aroma rice cooker design channels excess water away from the rice, delivering perfectly light and fluffy rice every time, even if it must be left in the automatic warmer for a period of time. I wouldn’t test it personally, but the specs say this design can keep your rice perfect for up to 12 hours, ready to serve.

When my niece moved out on her own, the wife and I made it a point to pick up an Aroma 3 cup rice cooker for her. It only takes a small amount of counter space, and provides all of the features she needs to make cooking excellent meals a snap. She has really appreciated that she can eat quality meals without spending too much time in the kitchen.

For my wife, the big attraction was how her Aroma ARC-988 is able to prepare soups and stews. She can put the ingredients in, and most of the work gets done for her. And the steam trays are perfect for crisp steamed vegetables, or even a delicious steamed chicken breast for the meat course. Since we our Aroma Cool Touch rice cooker, the whole family is eating healthier meals than we ever had before.

It is not hard to see how Aroma rice cookers have done so well in rice cooker reviews. They’ve got all of the features you’d want, and are easy to use as it is possible to be. Ordinarily, you would expect to pay outrageous amounts for this kind of quality, but that’s another key points in rice cooker reviews- the Aroma Cool Touch Rice Cookers are priced to be affordable for any budget.
